Network Systems Engineer (Storage)

Location: 100% remote within the United States.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and operate the storage foundation supporting compute, virtualization, database, and Kubernetes workloads.
• Manage block, file, and object storage across data center, edge, and cloud environments.
• Work with enterprise storage platforms including NetApp ONTAP, Pure Storage, and Ceph.
• Optimize storage performance, data protection, capacity, and cost.
• Apply automation and troubleshoot issues across storage, network, and host layers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least five years of enterprise storage engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in NetApp ONTAP or Pure Storage FlashArray/FlashBlade.
• Hands-on production-scale Ceph experience.
• Strong understanding of SAN, NAS, and object storage protocols.
• Experience integrating storage with VMware and Kubernetes using CSI.
• Strong scripting and automation skills with Ansible, Terraform, or REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of storage performance, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across storage, network, and host layers.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Vendor certifications such as NCDA, NCIE, or Pure Storage certifications.
• Experience with hybrid-cloud storage replication.
• Familiarity with software-defined storage platforms beyond Ceph.
• Experience with object storage at petabyte scale.
• Exposure to AI/ML workloads with extreme I/O requirements.
