Principal Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: US Remote

Salary: $263,800–$395,600 for Zone 1 US locations; $246,500–$369,700 for all other US locations. Additional compensation includes an annual bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define technical vision for company-wide domains, plan 18+ months ahead, write code, lead implementation, and own quality and outcomes.
• Design and build production-ready systems while driving architectural decisions for scale, reliability, security, and performance.
• Set engineering standards through implementations, code reviews, architecture reviews, systemic risk identification, and organization-wide improvements.
• Extract shared systems, establish reusable patterns, and reduce technical duplication and inconsistency across teams.
• Coach Staff and Senior engineers, lead cross-team knowledge sharing, and support technical growth.
• Partner with engineering leadership on roadmaps, resource planning, recruiting, and hiring decisions for senior technical roles.

Requirements

• 15+ years of industry experience in large-scale enterprise web or SaaS applications, including 7+ years in senior individual-contributor roles designing and building systems used by engineers at scale.
• Proven experience designing and shipping large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in at least one primary stack such as C#/.NET, Java, C++, or equivalent, with the ability to contribute across hirify.global's technology stack.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals, including event-driven architecture, asynchronous programming, concurrency, fault tolerance, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP, including architecture, automation, and operations.
• Experience with relational, NoSQL, vector databases, and distributed persistence.
• Familiarity with AI/ML systems and LLM-based architectures, including orchestration, retrieval, and agentic patterns.
• Experience completing monolith-to-microservices or service-oriented migrations.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker, RESTful services, and observability tools such as Elasticsearch, DataDog, or Prometheus.
• B.S., M.S., or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
