Data & AI Engineer - Real World Data and Healthcare Intelligence (AI)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid work with 3 days per week onsite required

Salary: CAD 100,500–150,500, including target bonus.

What you will do

• Own the application backend, including application logic, databases, data ingestion and transformation, processing, orchestration, APIs, testing, deployment, operation, and support.
• Develop and manage Python microservices and robust APIs using FastAPI.
• Optimize Snowflake queries, databases, ETL and data pipelines for performance, functionality, and timely execution.
• Design application architecture for concurrent users and high-usage periods; investigate and resolve pipeline issues.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, code management standards, and production deployments.
• Conduct peer reviews and maintain detailed Confluence documentation for the codebase.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant experience in backend development, integration, data pipelining, and infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a similar quantitative field is required.
• Expertise in database optimization and performance improvement.
• Expertise in Python, PySpark, and Snowpark.
• Experience with data warehouses and object-relational databases, including Snowflake and PostgreSQL, and with writing efficient SQL queries.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms, including Snowflake and AWS.
• Proficiency developing reliable Python APIs with FastAPI.
• Understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Strong collaboration skills and willingness to support seamless server-side and client-side integration.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern testing frameworks such as SonarQube or K6.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, including Kubernetes, Argo, Red Hat OpenShift, Terraform, CloudWatch, Grafana, JFrog Artifactory, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
