HR Generalist

Location: Joliet, United States; on-site. The role primarily supports the Rockdale, Illinois site and requires up to 25% travel to other assigned manufacturing locations.

Salary: $75,000–$85,000 per year.

What you will do

• Provide HR guidance on policies, procedures, employee relations, disciplinary actions, investigations, accommodations, terminations, and conflict resolution.
• Partner with leaders and talent management teams on recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Support compensation and benefits analysis, including base and incentive pay recommendations.
• Design and facilitate employee learning, development, training, and workshop programs.
• Maintain employment-law compliance, analyze HR metrics, generate reports, and manage HRIS processes.
• Support labor relations, union contract negotiations, performance management, succession planning, and continuous-improvement projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, plus a minimum of five years of human resources experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, an HRIS, and an automated time-and-attendance platform.
• Strong talent acquisition experience and an employee-advocate mindset.
• Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality; make decisions, recommend solutions, work independently, and escalate issues appropriately.
• Ability to travel to other assigned locations to provide HR support.

Nice to have

• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
• Proficiency with SAP SuccessFactors and WorkForce Software.
• Knowledge of labor relations and union support.
• Experience supporting multiple sites or working in a manufacturing environment.
