Mechanical Prototyping Specialist (UVC LEDs)

Location: Hybrid position based in London, Ontario, Canada; also available in Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States

Salary: CAD $70,000–$95,000 per year, plus eligibility for bonus pay.

What you will do

• Translate technical requirements into mechanical concepts, detailed designs, prototypes, test fixtures, and experimental setups.
• Build, assemble, test, troubleshoot, and refine prototypes, mechanical assemblies, and experimental hardware.
• Plan and execute technology evaluations and performance tests for UVC LEDs and related water-disinfection technologies.
• Analyze test results and prepare CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, reports, and recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Improve test methods, engineering workflows, documentation, tools, and knowledge-sharing practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, or another relevant technical discipline, with at least three years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, including 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and related technical documentation.
• Experience designing, building, testing, and refining prototype products, mechanical assemblies, test fixtures, or experimental hardware.
• Working knowledge of additive manufacturing, machining, fabrication, and mechanical assembly.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements and convert them into practical engineering solutions supported by clear analysis and documentation.
