Mechanical Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Devens, MA, US; onsite engineering role

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Perform mechanical design, create detailed CAD models, drawings, documentation, and design changes for electromechanical assemblies, machinery, and mechanisms.
• Support prototype builds, in-house and field testing, test equipment development, and operational testing of robotic vehicles.
• Design and support production of ruggedized military and commercial products, robotics, and automated machinery.
• Act as an engineering liaison to manufacturing and quality, resolving production and quality issues and reporting equipment build status.
• Interface with suppliers on fabricated-part procurement and participate in the formal Engineering Change process.
• Perform basic tolerance analysis and support manufacturing activities involving metal fabrication, machining, and welding.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar engineering discipline.
• 2–4 years of experience in mechanical design, or 0–3 years with an MSME.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles used to produce precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Experience with PTC Creo and/or SolidWorks for creating detailed CAD models and drawings.
• Proficiency with 3D solid-modeling software, including SolidWorks and/or PTC Creo, and understanding of manufacturing and testing practices.
• Ability to provide hands-on support for prototype designs, test equipment, and operational testing of robotic vehicles.
• Knowledge of metal fabrication, machining, and welding processes.
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, including word processing and managing files and records; experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills; must be able to obtain a DOD Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with a CAD PDM system.
• Experience with geometric tolerancing according to ASME Y14.5.
