Data Analyst - Procurement

Location: Cologne, Germany. The role is full-time and associated with the Cologne procurement team; working from home may be arranged individually, with up to 20 days per year anywhere in the EU when office presence is not required.

Kindergarten grant: €100 total per month for eligible employees.

What you will do

• Extract, transform, and analyze large datasets from multiple systems using SQL, dbt, and related technologies.
• Design, build, and improve interactive Power BI dashboards and procurement reporting solutions across European markets.
• Develop scalable data models, automate recurring reporting, and reduce manual Excel-based workflows.
• Improve data quality, resolve inconsistencies, and establish standardized KPI definitions and reporting structures.
• Build analytics for supplier bonuses, purchasing conditions, payment terms, purchasing volumes, direct supply share, supplier profitability, and supplier performance.
• Work with Strategic Procurement, Data/BI, and Finance/Controlling to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Requirements

• Degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Business Informatics, Economics, or a comparable field.
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL and Power BI, including data modeling, data transformation, and dashboard development.
• Experience with dbt or comparable data transformation frameworks.
• Solid understanding of data structures, ETL/ELT processes, data quality, and reporting architecture.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently with complex datasets.
• Experience developing automated and scalable reporting solutions, ideally in commercial, retail, e-commerce, or procurement environments.
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into reliable technical solutions.
• Proactive, structured, detail-oriented working style with curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Very good English communication skills required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Databricks or similar modern data platforms.
• Experience in commercial, retail, e-commerce, or procurement environments.
• German language skills.
