Senior Revenue Accountant

Location: Hybrid; Washington, District of Columbia, United States. Regular collaboration during US Eastern business hours is required.

What you will do

• Own the application of ASC 606 across revenue streams, including principal-versus-agent assessments, performance obligations, variable consideration, incentives, promotions, refunds, and customer consideration.
• Research accounting guidance and prepare technical accounting memos and position papers for new products, pricing changes, partner contracts, and non-routine transactions.
• Prepare and post revenue-related journal entries, perform monthly reconciliations and flux analysis, and ensure completeness, cutoff, and period alignment.
• Tie source and subledger data to the general ledger in a high-volume, multi-currency environment and resolve breaks with Payment Provider Reconciliation and Data teams.
• Design, document, and operate SOX-compliant revenue controls; support auditor walkthroughs, PBC requests, and technical position defense.
• Drive automation of revenue recognition and journal-entry workflows with Finance Systems and Data teams.

Requirements

• CPA, CA, or equivalent professional designation and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 or equivalent public accounting and industry revenue or technical accounting experience.
• Deep hands-on ASC 606 expertise and experience writing technical memos that withstand auditor scrutiny.
• Strong command of US GAAP, with working knowledge of SOX and internal controls.
• Hands-on month-end close experience preparing and posting journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis in an ERP such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
• Experience with high transaction volumes and multi-currency accounting, plus advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English, with the ability to explain complex conclusions to non-accountants.

Nice to have

• Public-company or IPO-readiness experience, including SEC reporting and PCAOB audits.
• Experience in marketplaces, platforms, payments, or fintech involving principal-versus-agent and incentive accounting.
• Experience with SQL, BigQuery, or revenue subledger tools, and interest in process automation.
