Safety Manager (Construction)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; the role includes regular onsite safety inspections and work under varying site conditions.

What you will do

• Manage safety performance, staffing, development, and training for assigned business units, projects, and direct reports.
• Conduct and evaluate onsite safety inspections, distribute findings, track open issues, and improve inspection processes.
• Analyze hazard, inspection, and incident data to identify trends and recommend project and corporate safety improvements.
• Lead OSHA and third-party inspections, crisis and incident response, investigations, toolbox talks, orientations, and just-in-time training.
• Review and improve safety plans, policies, documentation, signage, Job Hazard Analyses, and preconstruction safety processes.
• Enforce safety requirements and collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, clients, tenants, and the corporate Risk Management Team.

Requirements

• CHST, CSP, or an equivalent professional safety designation.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• OSHA 30 Hour for construction; OSHA 500 preferred.
• Either a degree and five years of experience or eight or more years of construction safety experience; other professional experience or skills may substitute.
• Comprehensive understanding of high-hazard technical areas, including cranes, fall protection, scaffolding, excavation, and electrical safety.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, research, problem-solving, prioritization, and independent-working skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information, adapt to changing schedules, respond to emergency or crisis conditions, and work under varying environmental and site conditions.
• Ability to navigate stairs, ladders, uneven floors, and uneven ground conditions, and to demonstrate safe work practices on and off work sites.

• Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field.
• OSHA 500 certification.
