Senior Safety Manager (Utility Construction)

Location: Piketon, Ohio, US; onsite role supporting utility construction and field operations.

What you will do

• Build and implement project safety plans, job hazard analyses, energized-work procedures, and tie-in procedures before mobilization.
• Lead and mentor field safety advisors, coach supervisors and crews, and deliver safety training, tailboards, and briefings.
• Lead incident investigations, learning reviews, corrective actions, and incident reporting.
• Coordinate AEP safety requirements, orientations, audits, inspections, equipment compliance, and corrective-measure reports.
• Analyze safety metrics, track leading and lagging indicators, and present performance reports and goals to management.
• Support corporate HSE initiatives and develop strategies to prevent future incidents.

Requirements

• 5+ years of safety leadership experience; transmission line and substation construction experience is preferred.
• Experience on large-scale, multi-contractor projects.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 Subpart V, NESC, energized-work practices, and federal and state safety regulations.
• OSHA 30 certification required; OSHA 510 certification is preferred.
• Ability to influence crews, supervisors, and clients.
• Understanding of safety regulations and training requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with web-based tracking software.
• New employees must successfully pass post-offer drug screening.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of AEP safety standards or comparable large utility owner requirements.
• Transmission experience at 345kV or higher, energized substation experience, and mountainous or remote-terrain experience.
• First Aid/CPR and rescue training.
• Bachelor's degree in safety management.
• CSP, CHST, CIH, CUSP, OSHT, or equivalent certification.
