Engineering Manager - Streaming & Storage

Location: Hybrid — 3 days in office and 2 days remote in New York, NY, United States.

Salary: $300,000–$350,000 gross annual base pay, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead, grow, hire, onboard, mentor, and retain database and platform engineers, including Staff-level individual contributors.
• Own and execute the multi-year roadmap for streaming, NoSQL storage, and relational data infrastructure.
• Lead the migration of streaming infrastructure from Azure EventHub and ServiceBus to a modern Kafka-compatible platform on AWS.
• Set technical direction, make architecture and vendor decisions, and balance delivery speed with the reliability of P0 infrastructure.
• Own operational accountability for 300+ database change requests per month, performance support, incident escalation, SLAs, observability, capacity planning, and delivery across a 40+ item roadmap.
• Embed SOX, GDPR/CCPA, data classification, privacy, and access governance into the platform while partnering with approximately 100 consuming teams and Legal, Compliance, Security & Data Governance, Finance, and engineering leadership.

Requirements

• Experience managing engineering teams, including platform or infrastructure teams.
• Strong technical foundation in distributed systems or data infrastructure, with the ability to participate in architecture and vendor discussions.
• Experience owning and delivering multi-quarter, cross-team programs or migrations end to end.
• Track record of hiring, growing, and retaining senior engineers, with experience managing Staff-level individual contributors.
• Experience with compliance obligations such as SOX and GDPR/CCPA, or demonstrated ability to operate in a regulated environment.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms and streaming or messaging systems such as Kafka or Kafka-compatible platforms; relational technologies including SQL Server and PostgreSQL; NoSQL technologies including DynamoDB, Redis, S3, and ElasticSearch; AWS, Azure, Kubernetes/EKS, and Terraform.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align leadership, partner teams, and engineers on direction.

• Hands-on, deeply technical experience leading Platform teams and streaming, relational database, or NoSQL domains.
