TL;DR
Avionics Hardware Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and integrating flight-critical avionics and electronic subsystems for AI-guided unmanned aerial interceptors with an accent on electrical architecture, power distribution, sensor integration, and manufacturability. Focus on hardware-in-the-loop and environmental testing, resolving signal integrity and EMI/EMC issues, and moving flight hardware from prototypes into series production.

Location: On-site in Toulouse, France

Company

hirify.global develops AI-guided interceptors for drones and cruise missiles, together with the software platform that powers them, for NATO-aligned militaries and defense institutions.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and integrate avionics and electronic subsystems for high-performance unmanned aerial systems.
  • Own schematic capture, PCB layout reviews, component selection, electrical architecture, power distribution, and harnessing for compact, high-dynamic airframes.
  • Select and integrate flight controllers, navigation sensors, data links, onboard compute, and other flight-critical electronics.
  • Lead bench, hardware-in-the-loop, environmental, ground, and flight testing; analyze results and drive rapid design iterations.
  • Integrate electronics into airframes, diagnose hardware, power, signal integrity, and EMI/EMC issues, and support full system integration.
  • Manage suppliers, component obsolescence, second-sourcing, design documentation, BOMs, interface control documents, qualification activities, and series-production readiness.

Requirements

  • MSc or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–8 years of experience in avionics, embedded hardware, or electronics design, ideally involving UAS, aircraft, missiles, or other airborne systems.
  • Hands-on experience taking boards from schematic through tested flight hardware.
  • Solid understanding of power electronics, motor control, RF and data links, and sensor interfaces.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with oscilloscopes, soldering irons, and test benches.
  • Ability to solve problems rigorously, make pragmatic performance/cost/schedule trade-offs, and deliver under tight timelines.
  • Clear technical communication in documentation and design reviews, with high integrity, discretion, and understanding of security culture.
  • Fluent English required; French is a plus.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with PX4, ArduPilot, or proprietary autopilot ecosystems.
  • Experience in a defense startup, neoprime, or fast-moving hardware environment.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, DO-160, or equivalent standards.
  • Embedded firmware experience in C/C++ on STM32 or similar microcontrollers.
  • Experience integrating edge compute modules such as NVIDIA Jetson and high-bandwidth data links.
  • Exposure to counter-UAS or air defense systems.
  • Willingness to travel to test ranges and field sites.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on, lab-oriented work across Software, Guidance & Navigation, Mechanical, Product, and Flight Test teams.
  • Short iteration loops involving design reviews, trade studies, product roadmap decisions, and rapid hardware iterations.
  • Work on systems deployed during live exercises and operational demonstrations across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
  • Support for field deployments, test campaigns, and industrial scaling from early prototypes through series production.
