Video Producer (News)

Location: New York, United States; hybrid schedule requiring office work at least four days per week

What you will do

• Monitor incoming feeds, NBC channels, agencies, and editorial sources; identify compelling and newsworthy video moments.
• Edit user-generated videos and raw feeds, adding graphics and producing wide and vertical formats for NBC News digital and social platforms.
• Publish clips to articles, blogs, external partners, and platforms; prepare headlines, captions, metadata, and promotional images.
• Prepare on-screen graphics and route feeds for simulcasts, live streams, and recordings.
• Resurface relevant archive footage and interviews, and use analytics tools to support data-informed decisions and maximize ROI.
• Work flexibly, including nights and weekends as news dictates, while responding quickly to production issues.

Requirements

• At least three years of experience producing and editing video for digital, social, and/or mobile platforms.
• Proficiency with nonlinear editing systems, including Avid or Premiere.
• Strong journalistic writing, editorial judgment, and knowledge of current events; ability to identify compelling video.
• Familiarity with AP Style, SEO best practices, content management or online publishing systems, and analytics tools.
• Ability to create fair and accurate headlines, informative captions, and on-screen graphics; basic photo editing skills.
• Speedy decision-making, quick reactions, strong organization, work ethic, multitasking, and prioritization under extreme deadlines.
• Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, take direction, and provide self-direction.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, storytelling, multimedia creation, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Background in broadcast news production and experience with Avid video editing.
• Knowledge of NBC News policies, guidelines, and practices.
