Business Analyst (Data)

What you will do

• Translate ambiguous business questions into clear, testable requirements for analytics and data engineering teams.
• Evaluate and prioritize business requests based on expected value and effort, challenging initiatives without sufficient justification.
• Define expected ROI and measurement frameworks, challenge unclear or overlapping benefits, and track realized outcomes after delivery.
• Define KPI meanings, underlying data, decision relevance, and accountable business ownership with formal stakeholder sign-off.
• Resolve conflicting metric definitions across departments and act as the bridge between business, BI, FP&A, and project management.
• Consolidate reporting that no longer supports business decisions and improve reporting effectiveness.

Requirements

• Substantial experience as a business analyst in a data- or reporting-heavy environment, with a proven track record of owning business requirements.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into actionable technical specifications.
• Experience developing business cases, defining expected ROI, establishing measurement frameworks, and evaluating realized benefits.
• Experience defining KPIs with business stakeholders, assigning ownership, and ensuring accountability.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including challenging assumptions, defending recommendations, and escalating issues when necessary.
• Ability to work independently in an advisory capacity and facilitate decisions with senior stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services, trading, or another regulated environment.
• Working familiarity with SQL or Power BI to collaborate with technical teams without directly building solutions.
• Exposure to data governance or data quality practices.
