Lead Engineer, R&D Project Management

Location: Hybrid position located in Bedford, Massachusetts, United States; projects may support Bedford, Danbury, and Korea. Domestic and international travel of up to 10% is required, with potentially more travel initially.

Salary: $118,000–$157,000 per year, with actual pay dependent on overall skills for the role.

What you will do

• Manage installation of new tools and upgrades to existing equipment supporting R&D, new product development, process transfer, and manufacturing expansion.
• Define project scope, technical requirements, schedules, budgets, constraints, success criteria, milestones, dependencies, risks, and resource needs.
• Lead cross-functional execution with EHS, R&D, Facilities, Operations, Procurement, Quality, suppliers, and external vendors.
• Manage equipment installation and qualification for safe operation, process transfer, and manufacturing handoff.
• Track schedules, deliverables, budgets, risks, issues, decisions, and recovery plans while holding stakeholders accountable.
• Drive manufacturing assessment and handoff of equipment and transferred processes, including documentation, maintenance plans, safety procedures, spare parts, training, and tool matching.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in project management or engineering; Materials, Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
• At least 8 years of work-related technical project management experience in an operations or engineering environment.
• Demonstrated success leading and developing operations or capital expenditure projects involving multiple internal or external vendor organizations.
• Ability to work effectively in challenging, dynamic project environments and maintain clear communication and accountability.
• Ability to communicate with and influence personnel at all organizational levels.
• Experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time; initially, travel may be higher.
