Staff Engineer I, DevOps Engineering (Azure)

What you will do

• Own the architecture and evolution of Azure cloud infrastructure provisioned with Terraform and Terraform Cloud, including networking, platform services, environment parity, and automation.
• Design and operate Azure Kubernetes Service, identity and access architecture, database connectivity, and platform reliability across environments.
• Define CI/CD patterns with GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps, including container lifecycle management, environment promotion, secrets, rollback, and private runners.
• Set observability, security, compliance, access-control, and incident-response standards; lead root-cause analysis and remediation of platform issues.
• Improve developer experience through local-environment and deployment standards, while partnering with architects, product engineers, security teams, and central cloud teams.
• Lead and mentor DevOps engineers, shape platform roadmaps, and drive technical discovery, proofs of concept, automation, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7–9 years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or cloud platform engineering, including experience at a senior or staff level.
• Production-scale cloud architecture and operations experience with end-to-end ownership of technical decisions, plus experience leading and mentoring DevOps or platform engineers in product organizations.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Terraform and Terraform Cloud or equivalent, including module design, state strategy, and remote backends at scale.
• Strong Azure expertise covering AKS, VNets, subnets, private endpoints, NSGs, DNS, App Services, Key Vault, Container Registry, Storage Accounts, and Azure private networking.
• Deep experience with Docker, Kubernetes, container image lifecycle management, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Linux administration, Bash, PowerShell, and Python.
• Expertise in IAM, roles, permissions, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog and Azure Application Insights.
• Infrastructure experience with Azure SQL Serverless, PostgreSQL Flexible Server, Cosmos DB, security remediation, container CVE patching, firewall and NSG hardening, and WAF or Front Door rules.
• Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder-management, automation, continuous-improvement, and Agile-working skills; ability to define standards and roadmaps with limited direction.

Nice to have

• Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Administrator, Terraform Associate, CKA, or equivalent certification.
• Experience with multi-environment governance, FinOps, and cloud compliance frameworks.
• Familiarity with Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Search, Databricks, workflow orchestration such as Airflow, Snowflake administration or connectivity, and AI/ML observability tools such as LangSmith or Arize.
• Experience using AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.
