Field Application Engineer (IoT)

Location: Hybrid, Fernitz bei Graz, Austria; willingness to travel up to 40%.

Salary: From €3,954 gross per month, with a willingness to pay above the collective-agreement minimum depending on qualifications.

What you will do

• Support the transition of product prototypes into production and provide feedback to R&D.
• Deploy and install new IoT products and customer-specific solutions in coordination with customer project managers.
• Act as the primary technical contact for customers and internal teams during deployment and early adoption.
• Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with development teams on resolutions.
• Conduct on-site installation, troubleshooting, and quality-assurance visits; identify risks and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor solution reliability and create troubleshooting guides, deployment procedures, issue records, and knowledge-base articles.

Requirements

• University or Higher Technical College education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, another STEM field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience as an Application Engineer or in a similar customer-facing technical role, including Technical Support Engineer, Sales Engineer, Product Manager, or Technical Account Manager; experience in IoT, consumer electronics, or SaaS is preferred.
• Solid technical understanding and ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Good knowledge of IoT technologies and networking, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Zigbee, and LoRa.
• Experience with software troubleshooting, basic coding or scripting, log-analysis tools such as Azure Kusto Query Language, Sumo Logic, or Splunk, and Linux environments.
• Ability to manage projects, coordinate multiple tasks, and deliver within agreed timelines.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and data-analysis skills, including processing and interpreting complex datasets.
• Fluent German and good knowledge of English.
• Independent, solution-oriented working style and flexibility to adapt to evolving technologies and business needs.
• Willingness to travel up to 40%.
