Senior Legal Counsel - Music (Gaming)

Location: Office-based in Paris, France; office located in Saint-Mandé.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate music-related licensing, commissioning, distribution, and synchronization agreements in French and English.
• Advise game production teams on music-related content, contractual matters, and legal risk.
• Train creative teams globally and collaborate with legal counsels to develop practical legal tools.
• Monitor legal and business developments affecting the music and video game industries.
• Ensure agreements and advice align with business needs, policies, and risk tolerance.
• Improve standard agreements and legal processes, and support specialized outside counsel on sensitive pre-litigation matters.

Requirements

• Significant experience in music law, covering publishing and/or recorded music, ideally gained in-house.
• Strong experience drafting and negotiating music contracts under various legislations, including synchronization licenses, and working with collective management bodies.
• Experience managing multiple projects in an international, multicultural environment.
• Bilingual French and English, with equal comfort drafting and negotiating in both languages.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain legal concepts to non-legal audiences.
• Strong negotiation skills with a win-win mindset and comfort operating in ambiguous or unfamiliar situations.
• Emotional intelligence, curiosity, excellent judgment, and the ability to build consensus across cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to balance process streamlining with in-depth analysis and a willingness to take a pragmatic approach to risk.
