Principal Legal Counsel (SaaS)

Location: Paris, France; responsibility for South Europe, with a strong focus on France and Spain and work involving Italy and Portugal. International travel of up to 25% may be required.

Salary: €75,000–€99,000 annual base pay, plus potential performance-based bonus and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Advise South Europe senior leadership on commercial, operational, regulatory and strategic legal matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate SaaS, cloud services, software licensing, enterprise customer, data processing, technology services, partnership, reseller, distribution, alliance, vendor and procurement agreements.
• Support Sales from opportunity assessment through contract execution and lead complex, high-value customer negotiations across relevant European markets.
• Create and maintain commercial agreement templates, playbooks, fallback positions and contracting processes.
• Provide legal training and practical guidance to Sales, Finance, Procurement, Security, Privacy, Compliance and other stakeholders.
• Partner on data protection, cybersecurity, AI and technology-related regulatory matters, while supporting disputes, litigation and external counsel management.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of post-qualification legal experience in a leading law firm, technology company, cloud/SaaS business or combination of these.
• Qualification and good standing to practice law in a relevant European jurisdiction, with substantial experience advising on French and Spanish law.
• Demonstrable experience negotiating and drafting sophisticated technology and commercial agreements, especially SaaS, cloud services, software licensing and technology-related customer contracts.
• Proven experience handling complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions involving enterprise customers and/or strategic business partners.
• Fluent written and spoken English, French and Spanish.
• Meaningful experience or working knowledge of data privacy, corporate matters, employment/labor law, regulatory issues and disputes.
• Experience advising senior business leaders and stakeholders across Sales and other commercial functions.
• Experience in an international, fast-paced business environment, preferably in technology or SaaS.
• Commercial judgment, strong analytical and negotiation skills, clear communication, organization, discretion, collaboration, adaptability and the ability to manage competing priorities with limited supervision.
