Senior Engineer (Highways) - Liverpool

Location: Preston Brook, United Kingdom; site-based role supporting the LCC Framework.

What you will do

• Lead engineering analysis and delivery of highway schemes covering road layouts, drainage, earthworks, and associated infrastructure.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and program delivery from inception to completion.
• Oversee quality assurance, engineering control, contract and specification compliance, and subcontractor management.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, tender documents, and project proposals.
• Conduct site surveys and inspections, and liaise with clients, stakeholders, local authorities, and contractors.
• Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and support innovative engineering solutions and business development activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 8–10 years of demonstrable experience in highway design and infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MXROAD, or PDS.
• Strong understanding of DMRB and relevant UK highway design standards.
• Proven project management skills, including budget control and program management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Valid UK driving licence is essential.
• Experience with client management and stakeholder engagement.
