Data Engineering & Analytics Manager

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home, plus up to 4 weeks per year working from abroad.

Salary: €85,000–€110,000 per year, plus performance-based equity grants.

What you will do

• Lead a team of 3–4 data engineers and analysts, including team planning, hiring, development, and production ownership.
• Run discovery with business teams and deliver the data platforms and datasets they need.
• Prioritize trade-offs between Growth, carrier reporting, corporate finance, and actuarial requirements while aligning with cross-functional partners.
• Scale the platform so new countries, carriers, and products can be supported through configuration and reusable models.
• Automate recurring work such as carrier reporting and cash reconciliation.
• Improve engineering practices through data contracts, CI testing, alerts, and safe pre-production change validation.

Requirements

• Previous experience managing or leading a data team, including hiring, feedback, and people development.
• Deep expertise in one side of the data stack and working fluency in the other, with the ability to ship, review team work, and provide sound technical judgment.
• A track record of shaping what gets built by translating business problems into data priorities, cutting scope, and demonstrating the resulting decisions.
• Strong ownership and impact orientation, including the willingness to work beyond team boundaries when needed to achieve results.
• Practical experience using AI in daily work, with the ability to explain where it helped and where it caused problems.

Nice to have

• Experience with reporting that must reconcile, including bordereaux, revenue, cash, or ledger data.
• Experience building B2B products, especially in insurance or fintech.
• Experience working on products distributed across multiple country markets.
• Experience with Databricks, dbt, and event tracking such as Snowplow or similar.
