Financial Controller

Location: Fully remote from anywhere in the Netherlands; work from abroad within Europe is available for up to 12 weeks per year, with a maximum of 4 consecutive weeks.

What you will do

• Strengthen internal controls and ensure accurate, reliable, and auditable financial data.
• Support VAT, ICP, and CIT compliance and statutory filings with external advisors.
• Own AR and revenue control, including reconciliations, revenue recognition, and billing accuracy.
• Run AR, intercompany, and bank reconciliations and substantiate balance sheet accounts.
• Contribute to monthly close and year-end audits through journal entries, PBC schedules, and walkthroughs.
• Identify process gaps and drive automation across NetSuite, Salesforce, and Stripe while partnering with Finance leadership.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in financial control, accounting, or audit, in Big 4 or industry environments.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Dutch GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Hands-on experience with VAT/ICP, CIT, revenue, and AR processes.
• Proven ability to improve controls, processes, or reporting through automation, reconciliations, or system improvements.
• Native-level Dutch and English fluency are hard requirements.
• Comfort working with data and systems, investigating details, solving issues, and communicating clearly with finance and wider business stakeholders.
• Ownership, adaptability, curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn and expand scope in a fast-moving scale-up environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite, Salesforce, or Stripe experience is a strong advantage.
