Staff Software Engineer (Workday)

Location: Bentonville, AR, United States; onsite at 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716

Salary: $129,314.00–$220,000.00/year, plus annual or quarterly performance incentives.

What you will do

• Monitor application performance through metrics, logs, maintenance data, and telemetry, and perform maintenance and re-engineering activities.
• Define and improve software development guidelines, standards, processes, and technology choices using industry research and benchmarking.
• Design software architectures and components for distributed, scalable, secure, highly available systems, evaluating business and technical trade-offs.
• Convert high-level designs into detailed specifications, mock screens, pseudocode, and functional logic for product modules.
• Guide coding practices, framework and platform selection, telemetry implementation, code reviews, risk mitigation, and secure, maintainable implementation.
• Oversee team deliverables, organize requirements into implementation sequences, and support testing, defect resolution, and stakeholder communication.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 4 years of software engineering or related experience; alternatively, 6 years of software engineering or related experience.
• Experience with requirements analysis, including risk assessment, business alignment, user stories, and functional/non-functional requirements classification.
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems, applying design patterns, producing detailed specifications, and developing MVPs.
• Workday expertise is required, including Studio integrations, EIB, Payroll Effective Change Interface, Core Connectors, and custom reporting.
• Experience creating maintainable code, conducting code reviews, automating CI/CD pipelines, and enforcing security.
• Experience with comprehensive test strategies, tool selection, test cases, and defect identification using tools such as Selenium, Jira, and Eggplant.
• Experience with client discovery workshops, architecture assessments, design sessions, implementation planning, system integration testing, defect resolution, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication.
• Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, secure coding standards, and full software development lifecycle management.
• Ability to bridge business requirements and technical solutions while delivering high-quality, scalable outcomes. Any amount of experience with the required skills will be accepted.
