Senior Workday Developer (Workday)

Location: Hybrid, 2 days on site at the Chicago office; local candidates in the Chicago area only.

Salary: $114,200–$190,300 per year, plus annual target bonus and equity opportunity.

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end design, development, testing, and delivery of Workday HCM and Financials integrations using Workday Studio, EIBs, connectors, and document transformation.
• Implement and maintain Workday Public Web Services, REST/SOAP APIs, Custom Objects, Custom APIs, and complex XSLT data transformations.
• Develop advanced Workday reports and BIRT business documents for cross-functional, stakeholder, and audit requirements.
• Lead integration projects, module rollouts, upgrades, enhancement packages, and process redesigns with HR Technology and Finance IS.
• Integrate Workday with GCP services including GKE, Cloud Storage, and BigQuery, and use Kainos automated testing for regression testing and continuous delivery.
• Manage enhancement queues, resolve incidents through root-cause analysis, mentor junior developers, and establish reusable templates, coding standards, governance, and least-privileged security practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of technical and functional development experience in Workday HCM and Financials or a comparable enterprise ERP environment.
• Hands-on proficiency with Workday Studio, EIBs, connectors, and Document Transformation.
• Strong technical fluency in XSLT, XML, SOAP, REST, Workday Public APIs, Custom Objects, and Custom APIs; experience with Workday Extend.
• Experience developing complex Workday reports and BIRT templates.
• Working knowledge of GCP development, specifically GKE, Cloud Storage, and BigQuery, plus Kainos automated testing for Workday environments.
• Functional understanding of data flows across at least 3–4 Workday Financials modules and data structures across at least 2–3 Workday HCM modules.
• In-depth expertise in Workday security administration, integration security policies, ISUs, ISSGs, and least-privileged access implementation.
• Ability to manage enhancement queues, document best practices, and deliver scalable enterprise solutions in a highly regulated environment.
