Senior Data Engineer, Credit Reporting (Fintech)

Location: Remote from Türkiye

Salary: $4,500–$6,000 gross per month

What you will do

• Own recurring credit bureau furnishing operations, including preparation, validation, submission, bureau feedback, exception resolution, and reconciliation.
• Build, maintain, and debug SQL transformations, Python scripts, and data pipelines that produce credit reporting data.
• Trace account-level discrepancies from source records through transformation logic to furnished outputs, identify root causes, and implement lasting fixes.
• Investigate Customer Service escalations, explain account-data findings, support dispute responses, and work with Compliance on approved reporting requirements.
• Identify affected accounts, perform controlled corrections and reprocessing, and verify reporting outcomes.
• Develop automated tests, reconciliations, monitoring, alerts, documentation, and data lineage; partner with Engineering to validate production fixes.

Requirements

• Degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant data engineering or software engineering experience, including hands-on ownership of production data pipelines and operational workflows.
• Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, account-level reconciliation, data profiling, and transformation troubleshooting.
• Strong Python skills, including reading unfamiliar code, debugging existing scripts, and implementing maintainable fixes.
• Ability to independently investigate ambiguous problems, prioritize recurring operations and incidents, and carry issues through verified resolution.
• Experience with version control, code review, automated testing, monitoring, safe deployment, and data-workflow reprocessing.
• Strong problem-solving, business judgment, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Fluent English.
• Demonstrated experience with Claude or equivalent large language model tools is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with credit reporting dispute workflows, e-OSCAR, Metro 2, and customer-support escalations.
• Experience with dbt, Redshift, PostgreSQL, AWS, and workflow scheduling or orchestration tools.
• Experience in consumer lending, servicing, payments, financial services, banking, fintech, or BNPL.
