Senior Full Stack Agentic AI Engineer (AI)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; Seattle preferred. Other locations and employment arrangements to be confirmed.

Total cash range: $184,500–$258,000, with potential increases up to $295,000 based on sustained performance.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate agentic AI experiences for travel discovery, itinerary planning, personalization, and booking workflows.
• Develop agent orchestration with planning, tool use, routing, state management, memory, retries, guardrails, and human confirmation.
• Build backend services, APIs, data models, integrations, event-driven workflows, and user-facing product experiences.
• Integrate retrieval, knowledge, recommendation, embeddings, search, ranking, and grounding capabilities.
• Establish evaluation and observability for quality, task completion, latency, cost, safety, failures, and user impact.
• Own product surfaces from problem framing through implementation, launch, measurement, iteration, and production support while mentoring teammates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including delivering production systems end to end.
• Experience building and operating full-stack applications with meaningful depth in backend services and modern web or product-facing interfaces.
• Professional experience integrating LLMs or AI/ML capabilities into production products, workflows, or platforms.
• Experience with agentic patterns including tool-using agents, multi-step workflows, orchestration, RAG, function calling, structured outputs, or human-in-the-loop systems.
• Strong programming ability in at least one backend language such as Python, Java, Kotlin, Go, or TypeScript, plus experience with a modern frontend stack.
• Experience designing APIs, services, data models, integrations, automated tests, and production monitoring.
• Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly and collaborate with product, design, data, and engineering partners.

Nice to have

• Experience building tool-using AI agents or assistants, agent orchestration or evaluation frameworks, retrieval and knowledge systems, vector or hybrid search, embeddings, reranking, and grounding.
• Experience with streaming or real-time AI interactions, conversational interfaces, React, TypeScript, Next.js, GraphQL, Python, FastAPI, Java/Kotlin services, REST, event-driven architecture, or cloud-native systems.
• Experience with agent evaluation, monitoring, experimentation, safety, privacy, security, reliability, and responsible-AI practices.
• Experience in travel, commerce, marketplaces, recommendations, search, personalization, high-scale consumer products, startups, incubation, or rapidly evolving product environments.
• Experience using AI coding assistants or software-engineering agents, including validating, correcting, and hardening generated output.
