Power Generation Electrical Project Engineer, Associate (Electrical)

Location: Redding, California, US. Onsite.

Salary: $99,936–$150,108 per year.

What you will do

• Support small to medium capital and expense projects across power-generation and infrastructure facilities as an electrical, civil, or mechanical engineer or project manager.
• Prepare design criteria, engineering calculations, technical documentation, design reviews, approvals, equipment specifications, and as-built drawing updates.
• Coordinate project scope, schedules, costs, resources, contingencies, communications, approvals, tracking, and issue resolution.
• Provide construction support, field inspections, startup testing, technical oversight to consultants and contractors, and recommendations for field problems.
• Manage procurement of project materials, including long-lead items, and support contracts and proposals with vendors and construction firms.
• Support operations and maintenance, emergency facility-failure response, safety programs, and periodic on-call supervisor duties.

Requirements

• Four-year BS degree in Engineering from an accredited US curriculum or equivalent international degree.
• Current and active Engineering-In-Training (E.I.T.) certification.
• Current and active California PE license.
• At least 18 months of engineering and/or project management experience with demonstrated performance in a related industry, or demonstrated skill development and performance in Power Generation’s EIT program, or completion of PG&E’s college new-hire program.
• Ability to apply engineering and project-management principles, develop designs and specifications, analyze information, and prepare basic reports and data displays.
• Ability to oversee consultants, suppliers, and construction firms; support contracting, negotiations, and resolution of contract disputes.
• Ability to manage limited-scope projects, develop scopes and plans, coordinate teams, track progress, and communicate project status.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, judgment, initiative, consensus-building, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and MS Project.

Nice to have

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Electrical PE license.
• Five years of relevant experience.
• Understanding of the utility industry, design requirements, industry standards, PG&E financial and business practices, cost estimation, economic analysis, and project approvals.
• Experience developing cost-effective engineering and project-management solutions and leading routine to moderately complex project teams.
• Ongoing professional development through industry associations, conferences, technical workshops, trade publications, or formal education.
