Lead PM (API/GraphQL)

Location: On-site in New York City or Palo Alto, United States; must live in or be willing to relocate to Palo Alto, California, or New York City.

hirify.global builds a vertically integrated mortgage platform that turns mortgage origination into a single API for public companies and large originators.

What you will do

• Set the API strategy and own the roadmap and quality bar for the mortgage platform.
• Define the mortgage domain model, including entities, relationships, lifecycle states, compliance data, disclosures, audit trails, and permissions.
• Lead GraphQL schema design and API design reviews, including versioning, deprecation, evolution, pagination, errors, naming, and consistency standards.
• Own developer experience across documentation, API explorer, SDKs, sandboxes, webhooks, onboarding, and agent integrations.
• Partner with engineering on performance, reliability, authentication, permissions, rate limiting, and observability.
• Work with engineering, Agent Platform, GTM, and Account Management; write and ship schema and API code and support customer integrations.

Requirements

• 7+ years in software, including at least 4 years as a PM on API or developer platform products.
• Experience owning and scaling public APIs that developers use at real scale.
• Strong domain-modeling skills, including turning complex real-world domains into entities, relationships, and state machines.
• Deep GraphQL knowledge, including schema design, nullability, connection-based pagination, error modeling, federation, and schema evolution and deprecation.
• Knowledge of API design beyond GraphQL, including REST, webhooks, events, idempotency, OAuth, scoped API keys, and rate limiting.
• Ability to write and commit code to a production codebase, prototype against APIs, and discuss architecture deeply with engineers.
• Experience building developer experience products such as documentation, SDKs, sandboxes, and developer portals.
• Experience building 0–1 enterprise software in a regulated industry.
• Ability to write SQL and define metrics for API adoption and developer experience.
• Strong communication, prioritization, relationship-building, and willingness to learn mortgage deeply; use of AI in day-to-day work is expected.

• Mortgage or fintech infrastructure experience.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as MISMO.
