Software Development Manager (AI)

Location: Hybrid from the Edmonton, Alberta office or fully remote across Canada; full-time, permanent, 37.5 hours per week.

What you will do

• Lead Software Developers and Scrum Masters delivering the contract platform and internal CMS editor experience.
• Set expectations, coach developers, manage performance and career development, and support hiring and onboarding.
• Partner with Product, UX, QA, Architecture, Analytics, and business stakeholders on strategy, roadmaps, experimentation, and delivery priorities.
• Make architecture and technology decisions; manage scope, estimates, dependencies, risks, schedules, and delivery commitments.
• Advance practical AI adoption across investigation, prototyping, code review, testing, documentation, and delivery analysis while coaching effective AI-assisted workflows.
• Strengthen web application, API, data model, automated testing, CI/CD, security, release, incident response, and production troubleshooting practices.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education in Computing Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience leading software development teams and supporting developer performance, growth, and delivery.
• At least 7 years of experience in software development, architecture, or technical delivery.
• Experience managing projects, processes, priorities, and technical delivery in a software development environment.
• Strong technical judgment across web applications, APIs, data models, automated testing, CI/CD, security, and production troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience using AI platforms, agents, or related tools in real software engineering work, including validating AI output and identifying risks.
• Strong business acumen, stakeholder collaboration, written and verbal communication, negotiation, and scope-alignment skills.
• Familiarity with Agile processes and cross-functional software delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, C#/.NET, Vue, SQL Server, and Entity Framework Core.
• Experience introducing reusable AI workflows, engineering playbooks, or developer enablement practices and measuring their impact on delivery, quality, rework, or cost.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol or similar approaches for connecting AI tools to engineering or product workflows.
• Experience leading AI adoption, technical transformation, or broader change management initiatives.
