Senior Engineering Manager - Core Platform

Location: Remote; preferred East Coast or Central US or Canada.

What you will do

• Lead the engineering team responsible for identity, customer job processing, and design systems.
• Hire, inspire, and develop software engineers from junior through staff levels, while building future engineering leadership.
• Partner with Product, Design, Customer Success, Support, Sales, and other teams to define vision, prioritize roadmaps, and shape long-term strategy.
• Own delivery, operational excellence, and outcomes across the team portfolio, keeping critical systems performant, reliable, secure, and scalable.
• Set architectural guardrails and guide major technical decisions without being a hands-on contributor.
• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives and establish efficient, async-first collaboration across a distributed team.

Requirements

• 5+ years managing software engineers, preferably in a remote-first B2B SaaS or startup environment.
• 8+ years of full-time software development experience, preferably in product engineering or full-stack roles.
• Demonstrated success hiring and developing talent, with sustained investment in engineers’ career growth.
• Strong customer focus and a track record of delivering high-quality, impactful features across the full product lifecycle.
• Technical depth in complex architectural problems and the ability to guide senior engineers toward sound decisions.
• Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to build trust with cross-functional partners in a remote-first environment.
• High ownership and a growth mindset; collaborative, humble, and comfortable in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
• Participation in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support and resolve critical issues is required.
