Senior Engineering Manager (Infrastructure Security)

Location: Remote within the United States or Canada; NYC preferred. Occasional in-person off-sites, conferences, and team gatherings.

What you will do

• Lead 10–12 engineers across the Secrets Management and related product teams, owning delivery, commitments, priorities, and execution quality.
• Hire, onboard, coach, and manage performance while developing strong Tech Leads and technical leaders.
• Balance customer needs and product development with investments in security, reliability, and developer velocity.
• Set reliability targets and improve observability, incident response, and operational quality.
• Review production code and technical designs, guide architectural decisions, and resolve difficult engineering challenges with the CTO and Tech Leads.
• Work directly with customers to understand workflows and technical requirements, translating insights into engineering priorities.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing engineers.
• Based in the US or Canada; NYC preferred.
• Strong track record of building and developing high-performing engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and developing technical leaders.
• Experience leading multiple engineering workstreams and driving execution through others.
• Strong hands-on engineering background with the ability to review production code and technical designs.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and sound judgment around system architecture, reliability, and technical tradeoffs.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work directly with customers.
• Bias toward action, ability to make decisions with incomplete information, and ability to maintain high standards while moving quickly.
• Experience in developer tooling, infrastructure security, or other high-stakes developer software is preferred within the stated experience background.

Nice to have

• Experience working in security infrastructure or developer tools.
• Experience leading teams developing distributed systems.
• Track record of using AI tools to increase engineering output while maintaining production security, availability, and reliability commitments.
