Senior Process Engineer (Food Manufacturing)

Location: Hybrid role based in Camden, New Jersey, USA; anticipated travel of up to 40%.

Salary: $116,200–$159,800 annual base salary.

What you will do

• Coordinate and execute product and process development for salty snack initiatives, including new products, line extensions, cost savings, and quality improvements.
• Lead development and commercialization of new chip flavors and platforms, including ingredient and flavor design, process development, financial considerations, and consumer needs.
• Specify and implement manufacturing processes and procedures that improve product quality, plant efficiency, cost, and technology transfer.
• Conduct plant trials, feasibility studies, commissioning, validation, and startup of new or improved products, processes, packaging, and equipment.
• Troubleshoot production problems, identify root causes, analyze manufacturing data, and implement effective solutions.
• Lead moderately complex engineering projects and collaborate with Product Development, Marketing, Regulatory, Sensory, Flavor Design, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and plant operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Food Process Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
• Product Development experience and 6+ years of related experience in a consumer-packaged goods environment.
• Solid understanding of food science, business, operations, and commercialization processes.
• Knowledge beyond Process Engineering, including Product Development, Packaging, Quality Assurance, Project Management, Marketing needs, and financial hurdles.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, interpersonal, written, verbal, computer, and presentation skills.
• Ability to identify and interpret relevant data, provide detailed project direction, and execute statistically valid equipment and product tests.
• Ability to work independently and cross-functionally, lead multiple projects, and consider the organization beyond the R&D function.
• Passion for food science, product development, consumers, and innovation in new products, line extensions, and productivity opportunities.

• Master's degree.

• Experience with potato chip unit operations.
• Experience in tortilla and pretzel manufacturing.
