Principal Technical Program Manager (Engineering)

Location: Remote (US/CAN)

Compensation: $180,000–$240,000 USD for U.S.-based candidates; $200,000–$280,000 CAD for Canada-based candidates, including base salary plus bonus.

What you will do

• Track engineering programs that cross squad and domain boundaries from kickoff through delivery.
• Map technical dependencies, maintain sequencing visibility, and surface risks early for domain and squad leads.
• Build engineering status, reporting, and visibility systems that leadership can access without manual follow-up.
• Automate coordination using Jira, dashboards, scripts, and AI agents for status updates, dependency alerts, and reporting.
• Run planning syncs, sequencing reviews, written updates, and escalations when dependencies stall.
• Provide accurate engineering inputs to the PMO, support champion initiatives, measure coordination efficiency, and document cross-team operating practices.

Requirements

• 8+ years of program or project management experience in engineering or technology organizations, including 3+ years at a B2B SaaS company.
• Evidence of building coordination systems, tools, and processes that continued beyond the role holder’s tenure.
• Experience in fast-growing or changing organizations where structure was still being defined.
• Technical depth sufficient to understand dependencies, architecture tradeoffs, and the SDLC; a computer science degree and coding experience are not required.
• Expertise administering Jira and working with dashboards and reporting tools.
• Hands-on use of AI tools to automate tracking, summarize status, or surface risk.
• Experience influencing senior engineers, managers, and product leads without a reporting relationship.
• Adaptability across methodologies, persistent follow-through, clear direct writing, and comfort with ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Experience in cybersecurity, defense, or other security-focused products.
• Programs spanning hardware, software, and operations.
• Prior director-level or business operations scope.
• Experience adapting Scrum, Kanban, or other agile practices to team workflows.
• Experience building agentic workflows or scripts for delivery reporting.
