Software Engineer - SQL / C#

Location: Markham, Toronto, Canada

Expected compensation: CAD 90K–120K annually

What you will do

• Design and build user interfaces and backend components for data-intensive .NET web applications.
• Develop features with C#, Blazor, ASP.NET, and Entity Framework Core.
• Design, query, and optimize relational databases using SQL Server and T-SQL.
• Scope technical work, prepare estimates, define milestones, and participate in technical design discussions and code reviews.
• Independently implement complex features, explain technical decisions, and establish testing processes.
• Write unit tests and use AI-assisted development and data-processing tools to automate tasks and process large volumes of data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of database development experience.
• Advanced or expert-level C# and .NET skills.
• Expert-level SQL skills, including T-SQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Hands-on full-stack web application development experience with C# and Blazor.
• Experience with Visual Studio and demonstrated use of AI development or data-processing tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude.
• A positive, practical approach to AI-assisted development and the ability to work independently, define technical solutions, and deliver complex features with limited supervision.
• Working proficiency in English.
• No Canadian work experience is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with ASP.NET, JavaScript, Entity Framework Core, SQL Server 2019 or SQL Server 2025.
• Experience with stored procedures, query optimization, relational database design, and processing large volumes of data with AI.
• Exposure to Azure or the Microsoft Copilot ecosystem.
• Strong unit-testing practices and experience in a product engineering environment.
• Knowledge of data pipelines or microservices.
