Staff Software Engineer (SaaS)

Location: Remote; candidates must reside in Canada.

Salary: $140,000–$190,000 CAD per year.

What you will do

• Shape the architecture and foundation for multiple SaaS products as part of the Architecture team.
• Design reusable UI frameworks and a cohesive frontend platform that unites multiple SaaS products.
• Modernize legacy codebases and prototype, validate, and scale improved engineering patterns, tooling, and practices.
• Collaborate with Senior Engineers, Product Managers, and UX Designers to improve delivery speed, safety, consistency, and customer experience.
• Mentor and challenge senior developers through technical leadership and evangelism; no people-management responsibilities are required.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, ideally across backend development with C# or a similar technology and frontend development with React or a similar technology.
• 5+ years of experience shipping pragmatic SaaS solutions to production using AWS, Azure, or GCP while balancing technical vision with delivery.
• Hands-on experience deploying and operating services in Kubernetes, including containerization, scaling, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with relational and/or distributed data stores such as MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, or ClickHouse.
• Excellent mentorship and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and challenge senior developers.
• Clear and confident communication, including explaining tradeoffs, documenting patterns, and building trust across Engineering, Product, and UX.
• Ability to lead by example by prototyping ideas, proving new patterns, and scaling them through evangelism and mentorship.
• Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science-related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform, Helm, or Argo.
• Experience building secure systems in high-security or regulated environments.
• Familiarity with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
• Experience with domain-driven design and modular architecture.
• Understanding of AI systems, including LLM architectures, token generation, and MCP frameworks.
• Experience designing and implementing extensible frontend architectures, such as modular React applications, micro frontends, or plugin systems.
• Familiarity with design systems, accessibility, and internationalization best practices.
• Enthusiasm for using agentic AI and other modern practices as part of the software development lifecycle.
