Senior Legal Counsel, Litigation & Regulatory Affairs (AI and Bitcoin Mining Infrastructure)

Location: Washington, DC; Northern Virginia; Ohio; San Jose, California; or Austin, Texas. Travel to project sites, agency meetings, courts, and hearings is required as needed.

What you will do

• Manage commercial, construction, energy contract, insurance, employment, bankruptcy, creditor, land-use, and zoning disputes from initial notice through resolution in state and federal court, arbitration, and settlement.
• Develop case strategy, exposure analysis, resolution options, pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery plans, and witness preparation; participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Direct outside counsel on strategy, staffing, quality, deadlines, and budgets, and provide commercially grounded recommendations to senior management.
• Coordinate federal regulatory matters involving export controls, trade compliance, equipment authorization, supply-chain security, bulk-power and energy requirements, foreign investment review, and public-company obligations.
• Respond to federal agency inquiries, information requests, subpoenas, civil investigative demands, and parallel multi-agency proceedings; conduct or oversee related internal investigations and voluntary disclosures.
• Track legislative, rulemaking, and enforcement developments; advise on government relations, lobbying, ethics, political activity, regulatory comments, litigation exposure, and public-company disclosures.

Requirements

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing, with the ability to meet in-house counsel registration requirements where based.
• 7+ years of litigation experience at a leading law firm, in government service, and/or as in-house counsel, including end-to-end dispute management, substantive motion practice, discovery, expert work, and trial, arbitration, or hearing experience.
• Experience with federal regulatory proceedings, enforcement matters, or investigations, including agency information requests, subpoenas, civil investigative demands, and matters involving multiple agencies.
• Practical understanding of how federal agencies and Congress operate and how companies advance positions before agencies and policymakers.
• Experience managing outside counsel and budgets, making clear recommendations under time pressure, and delivering excellent written and oral advocacy.
• High self-motivation and a collaborative working style in a fast-growing global company.
• Ability to work with colleagues across Asia and North America, including some meetings outside U.S. business hours, and to travel as needed.

Nice to have

• Prior service with a federal enforcement, regulatory, or prosecutorial agency, or substantial practice before one.
• Experience in export controls and sanctions, equipment authorization and supply-chain security, foreign investment review, energy and bulk-power regulation, or digital asset regulation.
• In-house experience at a public company or disputes experience in energy, power, construction, real estate, or infrastructure.
• Experience supporting government relations, trade association or coalition activity, or regulatory comment filings.
• Experience in securities litigation, insurance coverage, employment litigation, or land use and zoning.
