Staff Mechanical Engineer

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site in the San Francisco office 5 days per week.

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 base salary plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead new consumer product development from concept through production.
• Architect and design complex electromechanical systems integrating plastic, metal, and soft goods with novel sensors and actuators.
• Drive brainstorming, CAD, prototyping, testing, and production ramp in Asia.
• Shape product direction with industrial design, marketing, product, and company leadership.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams to solve cross-functional problems.
• Perform thermal, fluid, and structural analysis and testing against product goals.

Requirements

• 8+ years of consumer product design experience, including injection molding, sheet metal forming, and sensor/electronics integration.
• Track record of shipping high-volume consumer products, including manufacturing support in Asia.
• Willingness and ability to travel to China as needed.
• High proficiency with 3D modeling and simulation tools such as SolidWorks, NX, or Creo.
• Experience with high-volume manufacturing, design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA), tolerance analysis, functional dimensioning, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Solid understanding of root cause analysis, design of experiments (DOEs), and other quality measurement techniques.
• BSME or equivalent; an MS is preferred.
