Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Build, deploy, manage, and modernize Kubernetes infrastructure across OpenShift, Charm Kubernetes, AWS EKS, and AWS GovCloud environments.
• Architect Kubernetes platforms using Infrastructure as Code, GitOps workflows, ArgoCD, Argo Workflows, and GitLab CI/CD.
• Manage and optimize GitLab, Red Hat Satellite, Prometheus, Grafana, and related tooling across modern and legacy environments.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex Kubernetes issues and support legacy Linux and Windows virtualization solutions.
• Design Kubernetes-based architectural solutions as project requirements evolve.
• Support infrastructure for in-house AI initiatives based on Red Hat AI on OpenShift and Poolside.ai.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience and a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent comparable experience.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes distributions, specifically OpenShift, Charm Kubernetes, EKS, and OpenShift in AWS GovCloud.
• Strong administration skills in Linux environments, including Red Hat/RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, and Windows.
• Fluency with oc, kubectl, virtctl, and standard Linux command-line utilities.
• Experience with AWS Cloud infrastructure.
• Strong experience with GitOps methodologies using Visual Studio Code, GitLab, and ArgoCD, plus proficiency with Ansible configuration management.
• Experience with OpenShift Virtualization.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing Prometheus/Grafana and Loki logging stacks, plus Splunk log collection and analysis.
• Must be eligible and able to successfully obtain a NASA Position of Trust.

• Advanced Cluster Management, Advanced Cluster Security, Red Hat CoreOS administration, LXC containers, and LXD ecosystems.
• Red Hat Virtual Machine Migration tool experience.
• Juju and Charm experience.
• Terraform, Helm, and Kustomize.
• Traefik, MetalLB, Multicast Networking, NMSTATE, Multus, and HAProxy router sharding.
• Proxmox administration and design, Broadcom administration, and AWS GovCloud experience.
• Kafka and NATS for microservices messaging.
• PIV-M authentication, OIDC, Keycloak, and LDAP integrations.
• GPU fine-tuning on AI worker nodes and familiarity with Red Hat AI, Poolside.ai, GPU utilization and tuning, inference, modeling, Harness implementation, and AI user interfaces.
