Senior Software Architect (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote, US; hybrid schedules are available for candidates in the El Dorado Hills, CA or Chicago, IL metro areas.

What you will do

• Define and drive architecture across PAM, browser extension and other core security platforms.
• Establish scalable patterns and standards across frontend, backend, client and distributed systems.
• Lead architecture reviews and major technical design decisions for cross-product initiatives.
• Design APIs, services, authentication, authorization, data flows and integration patterns for high-scale SaaS systems.
• Build prototypes, review critical code, identify technical debt and guide remediation.
• Partner with Engineering, Product and Security leadership on secure architecture, threat modeling, reliability and technical direction.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant software architecture or technical leadership responsibilities.
• Experience architecting and delivering large-scale production software across multiple product or platform areas.
• Strong full-stack background across frontend, backend, APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience designing highly available, scalable and secure SaaS architectures, including distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architecture and cloud-native applications.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented and modular design, architectural trade-offs, performance, debugging and reliability engineering.
• Strong knowledge of authentication, authorization, identity, access control, secure application architecture, APIs, shared services, relational and non-relational databases and data modeling.
• Experience with AWS, containers and Kubernetes, plus modern deployment environments.
• Ability to influence technical decisions across multiple engineering teams without direct authority and communicate complex concepts to engineers, Product and leadership.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI-assisted development tools for research, architecture, coding and technical analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with browser extensions, desktop applications, client-side security platforms, endpoint security, operating-system integrations or native client development.
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks such as React, or backend technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Rust, C++, Go or similar languages.
• Familiarity with browser security models, extension architecture, CORS, web application security, CI/CD, automated testing and secure software supply chains.
• Experience with observability platforms, performance testing, production diagnostics, accessibility standards, analytics platforms or enterprise product requirements.
• Experience with AI-enabled product initiatives, agentic systems or modern AI development workflows.
