Senior Director, Software Engineering (Contract Intelligence)

What you will do

• Own engineering outcomes, strategy, roadmap, investment decisions, and delivery across Astra Agents, Contract Intelligence Graph, and supporting CLM cloud-native services.
• Define a converged platform architecture covering shared data models, database services, IAM, Agents, AI Assistants, APIs, user interfaces, and MCP servers.
• Guide secure, scalable, observable, versioned, reliable, and backward-compatible APIs, integrations, orchestration interfaces, and customer-facing AI workflows.
• Establish AI evaluation practices covering output quality, permissions, privacy, latency, cost, and operational behavior.
• Own the software development lifecycle, operational reliability, incident remediation, release coordination, and long-term technical health.
• Lead managers and technical leaders, build engineering capability, and partner with Product, Design, Applied AI, Core CLM, QA, Cloud Operations, Security, and Support.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading and developing multi-team engineering organizations with managers and senior technical leaders.
• Experience owning engineering outcomes for a substantial product portfolio, platform, or technical domain, measured through customer adoption, usage, and business value.
• Deep experience with cloud-based SaaS systems, distributed services, APIs, enterprise integrations, and user-facing applications, with technical fluency to guide architecture and evaluate tradeoffs.
• Experience building shared or converged components used by multiple products or services, including data models, database services, IAM, and clear interface and ownership boundaries.
• Hands-on technical fluency in production AI/LLM functionality, Agents, and AI Assistants, including practices for evaluating quality, privacy, reliability, and cost.
• Strong understanding of delivery predictability, service reliability and SLOs, defect trends, performance, and operational health.
• Experience partnering with Product and Design to turn customer priorities into executable roadmaps, make build/buy/partner decisions, and deliver predictably against reliability and quality measures.
• Clear executive and cross-functional communication, responsible AI judgment, and experience setting guardrails for accuracy, privacy, security, permissions, transparency, and human oversight.
• Experience developing managers and technical leaders, building succession, and enabling strong performance.

Nice to have

• Experience leading AI-enabled products, Agent architectures, or orchestration interfaces such as MCP.
• Experience with knowledge graphs, graph-based systems, or other data-rich enterprise platforms.
• Background in CLM, legal technology, workflow automation, or enterprise SaaS.
• Experience scaling engineering organizations and operating practices in compliance-driven environments.
