Web Software Engineer III (Vue)

Location: Remote within the United States; preference for candidates near onX offices or Basecamps. Permanent US work authorization is required, and onX cannot employ individuals whose primary work location is in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia, or Wyoming. Occasional travel for multiple days to an onX office or Basecamp may be required.

Salary: $130,000–$153,000 per year, plus potential annual bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Build, support, and evolve web products for hunters using TypeScript, Vue, GraphQL with Apollo Client, and Mapbox.
• Own technical solutions from ideation through delivery, contributing to architecture, performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability decisions.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and engineering teams to deliver cohesive customer experiences and manage cross-team dependencies.
• Run and instrument A/B tests and feature rollouts with Split, Eppo, and Amplitude.
• Improve frontend quality through design reviews, mentorship, best practices, unit and end-to-end testing, and production incident response.
• Experiment with AI as a repeatable copilot in daily engineering workflows using judgment and validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Four or more years of professional software development experience, including at least two years focused on web client development.
• Strong JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and browser fundamentals.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as Vue, React, or Angular.
• Experience with REST APIs and/or Apollo Client with GraphQL.
• Experience writing unit tests with Jest or Vitest.
• Ownership, execution focus, collaboration, willingness to provide and receive mentorship, and advocacy for customer experience.
• Curiosity about new technologies, including AI, and alignment with onX company values.
• Permanent US work authorization is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript and Vue.
• Familiarity with Split, Eppo, Amplitude, and experimentation or analytics instrumentation.
• Experience with Mapbox or other mapping tools.
• Experience across mobile or backend platforms.
• Familiarity with Apollo Client caching.
• Experience writing end-to-end tests with Playwright or Cypress.
