Platform Engineering Manager (Azure)

Location: Remote, United Kingdom

Salary: £55,000–£74,000 per year, plus a £7,500 allowance and £600 annual home-working allowance

What you will do

• Lead platform engineers in designing, building, testing, and maintaining Microsoft Azure infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
• Set the platform's technical direction and guide engineering standards and best practices.
• Build and optimise deployment pipelines through automation.
• Embed security, stability, capacity, backup, and disaster recovery into service delivery.
• Champion DevOps collaboration across product, engineering, and operations teams.
• Coach and mentor engineers and communicate technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Background in DevOps, platform engineering, cloud engineering, SRE, or infrastructure engineering with strong cloud experience.
• Experience leading or mentoring technical engineers.
• Strong hands-on Microsoft Azure experience.
• Experience building and optimising CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Bicep or Terraform.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt communication for different stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Public sector experience.
• Docker and production containerisation experience.
• Scripting with PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
• Experience with large-scale cloud migrations, database ownership, disaster recovery, monitoring, logging, or alerting tools.
