SAP Principal Systems Engineer - S2P

Location: London or Cardiff, hybrid with 2 days per week in the office.

Salary: £70,000–£80,000 per year, depending on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.

What you will do

• Coordinate small and medium technical changes from requirements clarification through documentation review, technical build, testing, production deployment, and post-go-live support.
• Contribute as a trusted technical team member on larger projects, working with project management and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and promote practical best practices.
• Work with outsourced technology partners and internal stakeholders to resolve incidents across varied severity levels.
• Define technology roadmaps, engineering standards, support models, and operational practices for enterprise procurement and supplier-management platforms.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and governance while ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, supportable, scalable, and aligned with business and technology strategies.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as a senior technical specialist and subject matter expert across Source-to-Pay platforms, including SAP ECC6, SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba S2P Solutions, SAP MDG, Icertis CLM, and OpenText VIM.
• Strong technical knowledge of integrations between SAP ECC6/SAP S/4HANA and procurement, finance, reporting, identity, and third-party platforms using APIs, middleware, IDocs, web services, and event-driven architectures.
• Deep understanding of S2P business processes, including sourcing, contract lifecycle management, supplier onboarding and risk management, purchasing, invoice management, master data governance, and end-to-end procure-to-pay processes.
• Ability to align technology solutions with business processes, industry best practices, and organisational strategy, and translate business, user, product, and project requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Extensive experience reviewing, authoring, and assuring architectural, technical, functional, integration, and support documentation, including identifying gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills, including engaging senior business leaders, product owners, architects, engineers, suppliers, and delivery teams; leading requirements discovery; evaluating solution options; and making recommendations.
• Proven ability to resolve complex technical challenges across large-scale, business-critical S2P platforms and integrations while managing priorities, technical risk, and conflict in agile, multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA transformations, SAP Ariba Sourcing, Contracts, Supplier Lifecycle and Performance, Supplier Risk, Guided Buying, CIG/MGS, supplier master data harmonisation, or procurement process modernisation.
• Knowledge of enterprise integration platforms, cloud architectures, identity and access management, data governance, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance for procurement and supplier-management solutions.
• Experience in highly integrated enterprise environments spanning procurement, finance, supplier, and contract-management platforms.
• Ability to communicate complex technology solutions clearly and coherently.
