Senior/Lead Java Engineer

Location: Kraków, Poland; hybrid work with 3 days per week from the client's office, non-negotiable. Candidates must live in or near Kraków.

Rate: 135–160 PLN/hour on a B2B contract for around 10 years of experience; rates are individually negotiable for significantly more experience.

What you will do

• Develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain microservices.
• Work with PostgreSQL, Oracle or Sybase databases.
• Deploy applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Support Azure-based solutions and operate in Unix/Linux environments.
• Collaborate with development teams on project delivery for a global investment bank.

Requirements

• 10–15+ years of Java experience, including strong Core Java and Spring Boot experience.
• Experience with microservices.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Azure.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL or Oracle databases.
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux environments.
• Fluent English.
• Polish or EU citizenship, or a permanent residence or work permit valid for at least 12 months.

Hiring process

• One interview with the IT services partner followed by 1–3 interviews with the bank.
• Technical tasks are completed live; the programming environment must be set up and tested beforehand, and AI tools, coding assistants and code generators are not allowed during interviews.
