SVP Senior Low Latency Engineer (Java)

What you will do

• Develop and maintain Java and Rust code for event-sourced microservices on a low-latency in-house framework, targeting 10–100 microsecond response times.
• Build application frameworks and enable modernization for low-latency eTrading platforms across Markets Technology.
• Develop algorithmic trading system utilities, including market data replay and backtesting or simulation tools.
• Lead integrations, product deployments, and enhancements to technology processes.
• Analyze complex business and system processes to define solutions and consult end users on system specifications and design.
• Mentor junior developers and less experienced senior Java developers, while communicating with senior leaders and external parties.

Requirements

• Subject Matter Expert experience in Java application development.
• In-depth experience developing algorithmic trading applications, preferably in a low-latency environment.
• Detailed experience with market data handling and related technologies, including time-series databases such as KDB.
• Strong knowledge of modern Java, the JVM, Linux, system calls, and the Linux kernel.
• Knowledge of TCP and other IP-based networking protocols, including hardware-accelerated kernel bypass such as Solarflare OpenOnload.
• Experience with performance assessment, targeted tuning, system design, architectural development, and project implementation.
• Demonstrated leadership, project management, development, communication, and stakeholder negotiation skills.
• Ability to produce clear diagrammatic documentation and model key aspects using UML sequence diagrams.
• Ability to work hands-on in the Java or Rust codebase and support application engineers across the technology organization.
