Senior Financial Accountant

Location: North Sydney, Australia; hybrid. Candidates must have Australian full working rights.

What you will do

• Coordinate ANZ month-end and year-end financial close, management reporting, APAC consolidation inputs, variance analysis, statutory financial statements, and technical accounting reviews.
• Own balance sheet reconciliations, account substantiation, issue resolution, and financial integrity across multiple entities.
• Manage outsourced finance providers, including delivery standards, knowledge transfer, issue resolution, process efficiency, and workflow simplification.
• Support accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, debt collection, payroll, tax filings, BAS and withholding tax processes, and annual audits.
• Implement and monitor ICFR and governance frameworks, identify control gaps, drive remediation, and provide technical accounting advice.
• Develop standardised reporting, automation, self-service reporting, dashboards, and continuous-improvement practices while coordinating ANZ, APAC, and global stakeholders.

Requirements

• Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification required; CA preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to use reporting, reconciliation, and workflow tools.
• Experience with large ERP platforms; SAP preferred.
• Strong technical accounting and financial control skills, including IFRS, accounting judgements, and controls in complex, cross-border, multi-entity businesses.
• Strong knowledge of ANZ statutory reporting, taxation, and regulatory requirements, plus operational knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll controls.
• Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, organisational, prioritisation, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proactive, self-motivated, autonomous, disciplined, and committed to continuous improvement.
• At least five years of relevant financial accounting experience. Experience preparing and reviewing management accounts, statutory financial statements, consolidated reporting outputs, compliance deliverables, audit processes, and technical accounting matters with external advisers, regulators, or group stakeholders.
• Experience in a complex, matrixed, or international organisation, ideally involving multi-entity and cross-border operations.
• Candidates must have Australian full working rights.
