Director, Manufacturing, P&P, China

Location: Based in Shanghai or Xi’an, China, with responsibility for manufacturing operations in Shanghai, Xi’an and Changzhou; willingness to travel globally when required.

What you will do

• Lead Pulp & Paper manufacturing operations, development and implementation of the China production strategy and footprint.
• Lead technology transfers and production ramp-ups, ensuring site readiness, quality, delivery continuity, safety and efficiency across Shanghai, Xi’an and Changzhou.
• Execute the China manufacturing roadmap in alignment with customer needs, global capacity, sourcing and footprint priorities.
• Scale automation, AI, digital manufacturing, common production standards and reliable data.
• Prioritize investments and deliver measurable improvements in productivity, flexibility, competitiveness, safety, quality, delivery and cost performance.
• Lead approximately 750 manufacturing professionals, drive Lean-based operational excellence, develop capabilities and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external manufacturing partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management or another relevant field.
• Proven experience leading manufacturing operations in a multinational global industrial environment.
• Extensive experience in a manufacturing leadership position.
• Strong track record in operational excellence through Lean, HSE, continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
• Strong business acumen and ability to make data-driven decisions improving safety, quality, delivery and cost performance.
• Fluency in English.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, develop high-performing teams, lead change and build relationships across functions, businesses and cultures.
• Analytical mindset enabling operational data to be translated into sustainable business results.
