Maintenance Engineer (Automation)

Location: Onsite five days a week in Tianjin, China; three-shift rotation required

What you will do

• Upgrade or replace end-of-life automation software and hardware to improve compliance, usability, and reliability.
• Develop PLC logic and control parameters to improve quality, efficiency, and cost performance.
• Design, develop, and deploy control systems for new production lines and stations with manufacturing engineers and suppliers, including hardware selection, program frameworks, network architecture, and Wonderware deployment.
• Implement machine and equipment connectivity using IoT to connect shop-floor data with management systems.
• Apply new technologies to advance smart manufacturing and resolve complex, chronic equipment issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in electrical engineering and automation, mechatronics, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in automation system design and implementation.
• Knowledge of Siemens PLC and HMI, including hardware installation, troubleshooting, and program development with Portal, STEP 7, and WINCC.
• Knowledge of automation control system integration, including robots, RFID, vision systems, and servo systems.
• Ability to use electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.
• Good spoken and written English required.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills, accuracy, critical thinking, project management, technical troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to work under pressure.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC.
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts, digital twins, machine vision, and AI applications in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, Profinet, EtherCAT, and Modbus, as well as cybersecurity principles.
• High-level programming experience with VB, C#, or C++.
• Analytical skills for root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Diligent, proactive, self-motivated, and open-minded approach.
