IT Strategic Advisor (Telecom)

Location: Den Haag, Netherlands. Hybrid working model: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

Salary: €5,633–€7,330 per month. Additional company lease car or gross lease car allowance of €930 per month.

What you will do

• Act as a trusted strategic partner to the CIO and IT Leadership Team, structuring complex topics into analyses, recommendations, briefings, and clear decisions.
• Represent the CIO in selected steering committees and cross-functional governance forums, translating decisions into action and tracking what matters next.
• Shape IT narratives through Town Hall content, CIO keynotes, internal announcements, and leadership communications.
• Bridge IT with Commercial, Finance, Networks, Customer Operations, and Strategy by translating technology and business needs across organisational boundaries.
• Lead or coordinate cross-cutting initiatives such as strategy refreshes, organisational reviews, transformation milestones, and other CIO priorities.
• Create rhythm in the IT Leadership Team by shaping agendas, tracking commitments, and serving as a discreet sounding board on sensitive strategic, organisational, and people-related topics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree combined with more than 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience working on complex strategic or transformation topics within a large organisation.
• Strong analytical skills, including structuring ambiguity, separating signal from noise, and translating complexity into choices and recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills, including communication with senior leaders, negotiation, challenging, and influencing at a high organisational level.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to align people with different interests, priorities, and perspectives.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex topics without detailed direction.
• Business and technology awareness, with the ability to translate between IT and wider business priorities.
• Strong judgement and discretion when handling sensitive strategic, organisational, and people-related information.
• Curiosity, authenticity, pragmatism, empathy, honesty, and the ability to influence without formal authority or direct line-management responsibility.

Nice to have

• Experience working directly with a CIO, CTO, or senior executive leadership team.
• Experience in telecom, technology, or another complex digital environment.
• Experience leading cross-functional strategic initiatives without formal authority.
• Experience creating executive-level communications, strategic briefings, or decision papers.
