Staff Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Mexico City, Mexico; hybrid. Candidates must have the right to work in the jurisdiction where they will work.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable systems aligned with company goals and technical standards.
• Define and enforce coding standards, design principles, and development methodologies across teams.
• Drive architectural decisions and technical strategies while coordinating complex projects from conception through delivery.
• Own system and application performance, security, reliability, risk mitigation, and root cause analysis.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, provide code review feedback, and promote continuous learning.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, design, stakeholders, and senior leadership to align technical work with business goals.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience, including a strong background in large-scale systems and application architecture.
• Proven experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript; the stack includes Python, Go, Flask, FastAPI, AWS, Angular, and TypeScript.
• Deep understanding of software design patterns, architecture, and best practices, including DDD.
• Experience with cloud technologies, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD, and automation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Right to work in the jurisdiction where the role is based.

Nice to have

• Experience as a Tech Lead or Staff Engineer.
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks and data engineering best practices.
